Happy New Year!!!

2012 has been an amazing year.  We are so grateful for the many incredible blessings we have, especially the blessing of each other.  May your 2013 be marvelous!

Choo Choo!

No trip to Arizona is complete without a ride on the train at the neighborhood club house.  It's not fancy, it's not big, it's not steam-powered, but this kids love it.  This was Little B's first ride.  I think she'll be a repeat customer.

O as in Ostrich

You need to go to Arizona, right now, just to experience the Rooster Cogburn Ostrich Ranch.  I'm serious.  Maybe the coolest place I've ever been.
Yep, that's an ostrich egg.

And yes, those are ostrich feathers.  And yes, we did bring home our very own ostrich feather duster.

After MUCH persuasion, we finally got her to feed the donkey.  Ironically, these docile beasts ended up being the tamest and easiest to feed.

And in case you haven't had your laugh yet today...

Check out this guy.  He would totally smile for the camera.  No joke.

How often in your life do you get to feed DEER!?!?!?  Seriously!  They were crazy.

Love the deer looking right at B.

Like I said, they were crazy.  All those heads...

Love this.

Okay, so if you've ever been to a petting zoo, you know the goats are the craziest.  They steal your food, they bite you, they nibble on your clothes...ugh.  But this place was brilliant.  They had the goats under control!  You put the goat food on this little cup, crank the wheel...

And send it up the conveyor belt to the....

GOAT PENTHOUSE!!!
How awesome is that?  The first goats out of the pen every day get to go in the penthouse, and they all fight every morning to be the ones up there.  Because all they do is sit there and get fed all day.  Now that's the life.

I loved B in front of all the deer.

The other way they controlled the goats was...

The "Hole in the Wall."  The goats stuck their head through when they wanted food.  It was hilarious.  My dad said it looked like something out of a science fiction movie and that he would have nightmares for weeks.

But this way even Little B could feed the goats.

And then there were the ostriches.  Whoa.  These guys were super scary.  Feisty, nasty, whatever you want to call them.  But oh, so cool.

Love the sign.

Like something out of Jurassic Park!

Hey there.

And then there were the ducks.  Oh, so cute.
One of my favorite pictures from the day.

If you thought all that was neat, wait until you see this next part.

You walked into this aviary with these GORGEOUS rainbow birds, and if you held out this little cup of nectar, they would come over to you, land on your hand, take off the lid, and sit there and sip away.  It was amazing!

They just kept coming and coming.

This one REALLY liked my dad.

Check out this one HANGING from my mom's sweatshirt.

Little B is SO not impressed.  Haha!

This is my dad walking out.  The attendant finally had to shoo the bird away!

Seriously, one of the most awesome days ever. The only thing that would have made it better is if Big B had been there with us.
